Sophie′s world shows the four days in the life of Sophie during her visit at Sooyoung and Jonggu′s house. It portrays, in a plain tone, the struggles of Sooyoung and Jonggu, who are in love with each other, and the episodes Sophie experiences with the people she meets in Korea. Sophie′s world is not just Sophie′s but also the one that is made with and shared by several other small worlds. There are many narrators who tell the story and many doors open to various possibilities. Inside of it lie vulnerable hearts, humble gratitude, miraculous encounters, and heartbreaking farewells. The notion of time is deliberately severed and made confusing while the emotional atmosphere throughout the film is consistently warm and recollective. This movie is successful in both completing a subtle format and accumulating earnest feelings, which is hard to achieve in general. (JUNG Hanseok)
