A Place of Our Own begins with a threat to the home. A home that should be peaceful and safe turns into an uneasy and dangerous space due to a man knocking at the door with a loud voice. Laila and Roshni, who have been terrified, are rather kicked out of the house after hearing "your existence was the problem." All because they are trans women. Their journey to find a new home becomes a process of facing prevalent discrimination and hatred against minorities. Why is it so difficult to find a safe space and our place? Instead of sinking into sadness, the film listens to the trivial joy of the characters and tries to capture their elegant grace to the fullest.
